Organizers of Designer Bag Bingo, a new event coming in October to raise funds for Newtown Community Center (NCC), are seeking volunteers to help with the fundraiser.

NCC will host its first-ever Designer Bag Bingo on Saturday, October 11. A night of games and prizes will give back by raising funds for Friends of the Newtown Community Center, a nonprofit that funds scholarships and programs for all ages.

General admission has sold out, with a waitlist started. Tickets are $50 in advance, and include ten games, a dauber, and two entries for door prizes. With those tickets, guests will play for handbags valued between $300 and $990 from designers including Dooney & Bourke, Stella McCartney, Tory Burch, Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin and Frances Valentine. Extra cards will be available for $7.

Still available as of September 17 is a VIP Party Room, offering comfortable seating for 14 in a private space located across from the main bingo room. There, guests will enjoy all the excitement on their own large screen while relaxing at a banquet table complete with mini bottles of Prosecco, a crudités and charcuterie board, and the attention of a dedicated host. The package is available for $1,000.

Volunteer Openings

Organizers are hoping to enlist help from 30-40 volunteers. Local high school students have already promised to help serve as table hosts, but plenty of openings are still available for those who would like to be part of the event.

As of this week help is still needed the afternoon of Friday, October 10 for setting up the main room.

On Saturday, volunteers are needed for additional setup of the main room and raffle areas; bar and kitchen setup and prep; servers/table hosts; raffles (selling tickets, monitoring the raffle area, and running prizes to winners); and post-event clean-up.

Additional tasks will include helping during the wine and brewery pulls and checking IDs for those planning to consume alcoholic drinks.

Volunteers who also love bingo will also have the opportunity to purchase Very Important Volunteer tickets. For the regular price of a $50 admission, a dedicated player will be assigned to play games on the volunteer’s behalf. Details are available online.
