Night Of Beauty Helps
Kevinâs Community Center
Ricciâs Salon & Spa of Newtown raised $2,570 in a âNight of Beautyâ held for Kevinâs Community Center on Monday, September 15, from 4 to 8 pm.
All proceeds from the evening will be donated to Kevinâs Community Center, a clinic designed to provide free primary care services for Newtownâs uninsured and low-income adults.
The center was named for Dr Michael Tawehâs son, Kevin, who died in a tragic home accident last year. The clinic is Dr Tawehâs way of honoring his sonâs memory by providing medical services free of charge to those who need them the most and can least afford to pay. It is located in an area donated by the Newtown Health District at Canaan House on the Fairfield Hills Campus and is open every Wednesday from 1 to 5 pm.
Although volunteer physicians, nurses, and administrators will staff the clinic, it will cost approximately $50,000 to operate the clinic annually. Ninety-nine percent of all public contributions will go for direct patient care.
