The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown will welcome Beverly Branch for a demonstration of acrylic painting with a figure in the landscape during its next meeting, on Wednesday, September 24, at 1:30 pm.
The demonstration will take place at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole). The public is invited, free of charge, and refreshments will be served.
Ms branch graduated from Paier College of Art and resides in Bethel. She was the recipient of the Urban Arts Initiative Grant by the Connecticut Commission for the Arts in 1999. She has completed commissioned work for the Readerâs Digest Young Family Book Series, Thumbelina and Nightingale in 2003, and is working on Proud Little Peacock for the Readerâs Digest Kids Series Little Animal Adventures.
The artist sees herself as a mover of color and manipulator of images in her paintings.
âI give rise to the spirit and goodness of what I see as valuable on this fragile and extraordinary place we call art,â she said.
Ms Branch will discuss how digital photography has proven to be a great resource to her as an artist. As part of her demonstration, she will show some of her photos and talk about composition, value, form and expression.
