Church Fair At NCC, Saturday

All are invited to visit Newtown Congregational Church for its 2nd annual Church Fair, which is scheduled for Saturday, September 20, from 9 am until 3 pm.

The event will be on the church’s main floor, so it will be presented rain or shine.

A sampling of the items for sale will be turned wood bowls, scarves, paintings, handmade jewelry, knitted felted purses, knit and crochet items, doll clothes, birdhouses and feeders, Pampered Chef, Arbonne skin care and Mary Kay products, bakery items and fresh vegetables and specialty aprons, and a breakfast and lunch menu.

Artist David Merrill will return, offering a selection of his prints and autographing them for purchasers.

There will be drawings with each vendor donating a product as well as a variety of other items.

New this year will be several theme gift baskets offered at various prices.

There will also be fair trade gifts, housewares, jewelry, and more handmade items, all offered in partnership with A Greater Gift, a nonprofit program of SERRV International. The organization partners with artisans and farmers to help them gain access to markets and maintain steady work and sustainable income to provide for their families. Newtown Congregational Church has provided these items for sale for many years.

Also, tag sale items will be for sale to benefit an upcoming mission trip to Biloxi, Miss., by members of NCC, who continue to help that city recover from the effects of Hurricane Katrina.

Fairgoers will also be invited to stop in at The Cornerstone, now located in the church’s lower level, for its grand reopening.

The Dog House Grille, manned by members of church’s Men’s Club, will be open for the full duration of the fair.

Fresh corn and blueberry muffins will highlight the breakfast menu, and lunch offerings will include flared end hot dogs, homemade chili, hamburgers, cheeseburgers and veggie burgers, along with plenty of coffee, tea, soda and water.

The church is at 14 West Street, the building is air conditioned, and there is plenty of parking. To find the fair, follow the yellow balloons from Main Street.
