Common Sense And

Fiscal Responsibility

To the Editor:

Many people know me as a staunch advocate for common sense and fiscal responsibility in government. I believe Will Rodgers has been such a voice in Newtown and can be such a voice for us in Hartford. Although Will certainly wants, first and foremost, to assure that Newtown gets a better rate of return, so to speak, on the tax dollars it sends to Hartford by securing more state aid for our town, he wants to do so by reapportioning resources in favor of smaller towns within the existing state budget, not by increasing the overall size of the budget.

If anything, Will is committed to making state government more efficient, thereby presumably shrinking it and making it less expensive overall. Will is committed to creating a “win-win” for Newtown if he can; more dollars for the town in the form of state aid, while perhaps collecting less state taxes from the town’s residents.

Will has the political and professional experience to achieve these goals. He is the best qualified candidate to send to Hartford.
