Fighting For Her License
Fighting
For Her License
To the Editor:
I am writing this letter in hopes of appealing for assistance to the police officer who took my license on May 21. I am 90 years old and on May 21 throughout all my years of driving, I experienced my first accident. It was raining and the traffic on Church Hill Road was stop and go. Traffic started to move and the person in front of me stopped short and I didnât. I hit her car and then she pulled away down the street and crossed over into a parking lot. She never motioned to me to pull over or follow her. I was extremely upset, so I drove my car home. I waited for my neighbor to come home and then had him drive me to the Newtown Police Department to speak with them about the incident.
The individual whose car I hit had already been to the police department. There was no damage to her car.
The officer issued me a warning and then took my license. I sincerely believe if I had been a younger individual, the officer would have issued the warning and that would have been the end of it.
Up to this point, I have driven myself around town everyday and to and from New Jersey almost every month without incident. Now I am fighting for my license. So I am appealing to the officer who felt I was an endangerment on the road and help me have my license returned to me.
Sincerely,
Viola Murray
