NHS Swimmers Take Eight Firsts

The Newtown High School girls’ swim team raced to eight first-place finishes in the September 12 season opening meet at Bunnell High School.The 200 medley relay team, comprised of Leah Barrett, Megan Baylis, Maggie Atkinson and Colleen Carroll, was first in a time of 2:05.89. The 200 freestyle relay team  of Atkinson, Krysta Gates, Natalie Dunn and Maggie Hoolehan, won in a time of 1:56.56 and the 400 free relay team of Hoolehan, Atkinson, Kelsey McEvoy and Barrett was first in a time of 3:43.16.Individual winners were as follows: 200 IM: Atkinson, 2:29.47; 100 free: Carroll, 1:02.95; 500 free: Katie Fragoso, 6:09.34; 100 breaststroke: Baylis, 1:19.37; 100 backstroke: Barrett, 1:07.61.
