Twice-Weekly Sprinkler Irrigation Schedule Now In Effect for Newtown And Bethel Aquarion Customers
With an interim water supply interconnection now in place with the Town of Newtown, Aquarion has lifted the ban on non-essential outdoor water use. This is replaced with a mandatory twice-weekly sprinkler irrigation schedule.
Property owners should note the interconnection is intended for emergency use only and is not a permanent solution to the water supply issue. The Town of Newtown and the impacted parties continue to negotiate with the railroad company to resolve the blockage of the Pootatuck River caused by a culvert collapse during last summer's flooding.
Customers are reminded to follow Aquarion’s mandatory twice-weekly sprinkler irrigation schedule for the remainder of the season. Assuming customer cooperation, Aquarion is hopeful that this schedule can be extended into 2026.
Drip irrigation, soaker hoses, and hand watering are allowed at any time.
