Grandmother, And Friend
Cesira Elvina (Scinto) DâAusilio, 76, of Stratford, died September 18 at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford with her loving family at her side. She was born in Bridgeport on February 6, 1930, to Peter and Mamie (Scarduzio) Scinto.
In addition to her husband, John, Mrs DâAusilio is survived by three sons and their wives, Anthony and Nancy DâAusilio of Newtown, John L. and Terry DâAusilio of Delaplane, Va., and David and Terrie DâAusilio of Shelton; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Richard Pfeifer of Bridgeport; seven loving grandchildren, Richard Pfeifer, Cindy Pfeifer, John Lawrence DâAusilio, Ian DâAusilio, Christopher DâAusilio, Cori Ann DâAusilio and Rachel Ann DâAusilio; two great-grandchildren, Meghan and Richard Pfeifer; two sisters, Lucy Rizzo and her husband, Salvatore, of Bridgeport, and Laura DâAndrea of Shelton; and a brother, Peter Scinto of Bridgeport.
 Mrs DâAusilio was a resident of Bridgeport for most of her life before moving to Stratford in 1991. Known as Elvina to friends and family, she was a loving mother and grandmother and a friend to many. She was a stay-at-home mom and dedicated more than 50 years of her life to her husband and four children. She provided a stable and loving home for her family throughout the years. The wonderful job she did is reflected in the character of her children today.
She was an expert seamstress and made most of her own clothes and window treatments in her home. She was an active member of the Marchegiana Ladies Society, Oronoque House and Garden Club, and The Council of Italian-American Societies. After her children were grown, she and her husband loved to travel extensively and went to many places in Europe and the Caribbean as well as throughout the United States. Mrs DâAusilio helped support many charities, one of which was adopting a needy family for Christmas.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, September 22, in St Margaret Mary Church, 380 Long Hill Avenue, Shelton, at 10 am for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Shelton. Calling hours were scheduled for Thursday, September 21, from 4 to 8 pm, at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
