Begg, Feinstein Lead NHS Runners To Wins
Newtown High Schoolâs girlsâ and boysâ cross country teams hosted meets at the 3.1-mile course at Fairfield Hills on September 21, and both squads swept their way to successful afternoons.
The boys defeated Brookfield 23-36, Weston 20-41, and Masuk 15-50.
The girls knocked off Weston 20-41, Masuk 15-49, and Brookfield 18-41.
Erin Begg was the top NHS girlsâ finisher, and was second overall. Jake Feinstein, who won the season-opening meet last week, earned second place in the September 21 race.
 girls improved to 5-1 and the boys remain perfect at 6-0.

Last week, in the September 14 season opener, the Newtown boys defeated New Fairfield 20-41, Stratford 15-50, and Oxford 15-50.
Feinstein, only a sophomore, coasted to his first high school cross country victory in a time of 17:03. Sullivan (17:07) was close behind.
The Nighthawks had a strong pack that followed with Lintz, Klein, Gutbrod, Baldour, and Brophy all finishing in the top ten, and each with times between 17:32 and 17:51.
