Coming To The Rescue
Coming To The Rescue
To the Editor:
On Friday, September 17, my daughter, grandson, and I were shopping at the Big Y. We left the store with not only a shopping cart full of groceries, but also a stroller carrying my 4-month-old grandson. After emptying the cart, putting the baby in his car seat, and stowing the stroller in the back of the car, we realized that the car keys had fallen down into a grated sewer in the parking lot, and were nowhere to be seen.
I went back into the store, and spoke with the front-end manager on duty at the time. She could not have been more helpful. She called the police who told her to call the town garage. When she called and spoke with Dave, he told her that he would have someone be there within the hour. He phoned me a short while later and said theyâd be there within the next 15 minutes. My son-in-law came up to take the baby and groceries home and we waited for Daveâs crew. The three gentlemen arrived soon after and were wonderful. They removed the grate, found the keys, and when we tried to give them something for their trouble, they refused.
My daughter, grandson, and I want to thank all of these wonderful and caring people for coming to our rescue. It is heartwarming to know that at a time of need there are people such as these five individuals who went out of their way to take care of us.
Sincerely,
Mrs Robert G. Lavalette
