And Friends

Henrietta “Sam” Eleanor Skidd, 64, beloved wife of John “Jack” Skidd, died peacefully in Newtown, September 20, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born October 15, 1945, in Queens, N.Y., the daughter of Loretta (Pilichowski) and John M. Beckmann, and grew up in East Northport, Long Island.

She is survived by two sisters, Annamae Grossman and her husband, Dr Bob Grossman, and her sister Maryann Eichin; her dear son, Christopher Okpych and his wife, Carrie; and four grandchildren. Her first husband, Ronald John Okpych; her son Ronald John Okpych II; and a sister, Loretta Giarraputo predeceased Mrs Skidd.

Mrs Skidd lived in Smithtown, Long Island, shortly after her first marriage and then lived for many years in New Milford. Several years ago, she moved to Ocala, Fla., to escape the New England winters.

She was a registered nurse, working in several Long Island hospitals during her career, as well as at Danbury Hospital for many years. Mrs Skidd also worked in local doctors’ offices.

In addition to her husband, children, and grandchildren on whom she doted, Mrs Skidd was a cruise devotee and spent many a happy cruise in many parts of the world. She also enjoyed her boat on Candlewood Lake.

Mrs Skidd will be deeply missed by her loving and extended families.
