Jewelry Found
On September 16, a gold-colored necklace, which has some gold-colored charms attached to it, was found in the area of Gelding Hill Road and Russett Road in Sandy Hook, police said.
Police are holding the item for safekeeping. The owner may claim the jewelry by identifying it at the police station at 3 Main Street.
Warrant
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Brian Demers, 40, of Waterbury went to the police station and turned himself in on the afternoon of September 16.
Police said they charged Demers with violation of probation and with sixth-degree larceny. The charges stem from an incident that occurred in early 2009.
Police released Demers on $1,000 bail for an October 1 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
MV Violations
While on patrol about 6 pm on September 14 on Wasserman Way, near Oakview Road, police stopped motorist Christopher Johnston, 23, of 199 Hanover Road to investigate.
Police said they charged Johnston with driving an unregistered vehicle and with driving with a suspended license.
Johnston was released on written promise to appear on September 30 in Danbury Superior Court.
Motorcycle Accident
Police report that Jason Gray, 23, of Tampa, Fla., was driving a 2005 Honda motorcycle southward near 43 Mile Hill Road South about 3:20 am September 19, when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road to the right and then went off the northbound road shoulder, striking some curbing.
Gray was partially thrown from the motorcycle and received shoulder and hip injuries, police said.
Ambulance volunteers transported Gray to Danbury Hospital for treatment, police said. Newtown Hook & Ladder firefighters responded to the accident. Police said the incident is under investigation.

Vandalism
Police are investigating some vandalism to a curbside residential mailbox that occurred on Shut Road either late September 18 or early September 19. Police ask anyone with information on the property damage to contact them at 203-426-5841.
Parking Lot Crash
About 6:37 pm on September 10, a collision occurred between two vehicles that were exiting the Blue Colony Diner parking lot at 66 Church Hill road, police report.
The accident involved motorist Elizabeth Sappione, 50, of Bethel, who was driving a 1990 Toyota sedan, and Larry Gordon, 61, of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, who was driving a 2011 Volvo tractor-trailer truck, police said.
There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.
Georges Hill Road
A one-vehicle accident occurred near 76 Georges Hill Road about 3 am September 17, in which the driver left the scene of the crash without reporting the incident, police said.
Police said the unknown driver skidded on some wet pavement, after which the vehicle went off the roadway and struck some deer fencing and a metal-beam guardrail.

Wasserman Way
A two-vehicle accident occurred on Wasserman Way, near the commuter parking lot for Exit 11 of Interstate 84, at about 6 pm on September 7, police report.
That accident involved motorist Daniel Toth, 37, of Lakeview Terrace, who was driving a 2001 Volkswagen sedan, and motorist Anthony Willie, 25, of Butterfield Road, who was driving a 2009 Nissan coupe, police report.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Toth a written warning for passing in a no-passing zone.
Moving Violations
Police report that while using speed-detecting radar equipment at about 9:30 pm on September 16, they found that motorist Janice Berry, 40, of Bethlehem was driving 50 miles per hour in a 30-mph zone on Main Street, so they stopped her to investigate.
Police charged Berry with traveling unreasonably fast and with driving with a suspended license. Berry was released on a written promise to appear on September 29 in Danbury Superior Court.
Alcohol Incident
Police said they responded to a report of a shoplifting incident at a store at 5 Queen Street on the evening of September 10.
Police said their investigation showed that Christopher Detrick, 19, of 32 Charter Ridge Drive had allegedly stolen an alcoholic beverage from the store and then drank it in a nearby parking lot.
Police charged Detrick with sixth-degree larceny and with illegal possession of alcohol by a minor. Detrick was scheduled to appear in court on September 23, police said.
I-84 DUI
State police said that they stopped motorist Francisco Moreno, 27, of Waterbury for driving erratically on eastbound Interstate 84, near Exit 9, at about 3 am September 16.
After investigating, state police charged Moreno with driving under the influence and with failure to drive in the proper lane. Moreno was released on $500 bail for an October 4 court appearance.
Truck Vs Sedan
William Claypoole, 57, of Hershey, Penn., who was driving a 2010 Freightliner truck eastward on Interstate 84, about 2,000 feet west of Exit 10, on September 8, struck the rear end of an eastbound 1996 Honda Accord driven by Kyle Packer, 30, of Waterbury, state police said.
There were no injuries. Claypoole received a written warning for following too closely, state police said.
Highway Collision
State police report a two-vehicle collision about 7:14 am September 8 on westbound Interstate 84, about 1,000 feet east of Exit 10.
During heavy stop-and-go traffic in that area, motorist Jeffrey Miller, 45, of White Plains, N.Y., who was driving a 2005 Buick Century sedan, stopped the Buick and was then struck from behind by Adrian Chavez, 26, of Frankfort, Ill., who was driving a 2003 Toyota Highlander SUV, state police said.
There were no injuries. State police issued Chavez an infraction for following too closely.
Warrants
Police report that bail enforcement agents transported Andrew Mormando, 22, of 1 Pilgrim Lane to the police station on the night of September 20 because police held two arrest warrants against Mormando.
Police charged Mormando with first-degree failure to appear in court and with second-degree failure to appear in court. Those charges originate from previous arrests involving multiple offenses, police said.
Police said they held Mormando on bail at the police station lockup for a September 21 court appearance.
Obstructed View
At about 5:40 pm on September 19, police stopped motorist Allen Heady, 58, of Trumbull to investigate near the intersection of South Main Street and Elm Drive. Police said they stopped Heady because an ornamental item within his vehicle was obstructing his view of the roadway.
Police said they charged Heady with driving a vehicle with ornamentation obstructing the view and with driving with a suspended license. Police released Heady on a written promise to appear in court on September 28.
Vehicular Violations
At about 1:10 am September 22, police stopped motorist Julius Jones, 21, of Bridgeport on Swamp Road to investigate.
Police charged Jones with driving with a broken tail lamp and with driving with a suspended license. Police released Jones on a written promise to appear in court on October 13.
Three Offenses
Police report that at about 4:37 pm on September 20, they stopped motorist Tira McNeil, 29, of New Haven near 133 Berkshire Road because the vehicle that she was driving did not have a front marker plate.
After investigating, police charged her with failure to display a front marker plate, misuse of a marker plate, and driving with a suspended license.
McNeil was released on a written promise to appear October 5 in Danbury Superior Court.
Violations
Police said they stopped motorist Jason Esposito, 29, of 109 High Rock road in the commuter parking lot on Wasserman Way to investigate at about 6:12 pm September 20.
Esposito was charged with driving with a suspended license, driving with a suspended vehicle registration, and driving without automotive insurance, police report.
Esposito was released on a written promise to appear for an October 5 court appearance.
Button Shop Road
About 11:18 pm on September 18, motorist Katherine Peters, 16, of 26 Charter Ridge Drive was driving a 1998 Honda sedan westward near 25 Button Shop Road, when a deer entered the road, police said.
Peters attempted to avoid colliding with the deer, but the Honda went off the road, struck three trees and then landed in a ditch, police said. Ambulance volunteers responded to the scene to check Petersâ injured finger and she refused medical transport, police said. Botsford firefighters responded to the scene.
Police said they verbally warned Peters for a lane violation.

DUI Arrest
Police report that while on patrol about 1:16 am September 23, they spotted motorist Gaetan Morin, 61, of Danbury driving a vehicle that was crossing over the roadâs center lines, so they stopped Morin near 134 Mt Pleasant Road to investigate.
Police charged Morin with driving under the influence and with failure to drive to the right on a curve.
Police said they held Morin on $1,000 bail for an arraignment later that day in Danbury Superior Court.
High School Theft
Police said they learned that students at Newtown High School on September 21 had discovered that some personal electronic devices which they had left in their bags in a room were missing.
An investigation by school officials and police resulted in police charging a youth under age 18 with sixth-degree larceny in connection with the incident. Sixth-degree larceny involves the theft of items worth less than $500.
The arrested youth was released on a written promise to appear in court on October 4, police said.
Because the person charged is under age 18, their identity is shielded from disclosure by state law.
