Police Probe Motorist’s Death Following Hattertown Road Accident

Police said this week they are continuing their investigation into the death of George David Zurman, Jr, 64, of 143 Hattertown Road, who was pronounced dead on September 15 at Danbury Hospital after he was involved in an automobile accident that day on Hattertown Road.

Police Sergeant Douglas Wisentaner said September 22, “The accident is still under investigation. It appears, at this time, that [Mr Zurman] had a medical issue which contributed to the accident.”

The medical situation apparently occurred before the accident took place, the sergeant said.

Police have reported that Mr Zurman was driving a 2004 Nissan X-terra SUV southward near 99  Hattertown Road about 3:58 pm on September 15, when the vehicle veered off the road’s left shoulder and then struck a stone wall. The impact caused moderate front-end damage to the vehicle, according to police.

Dodgingtown firefighters responded to the accident, as did Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps members, who transported Mr Zurman to Danbury Hospital.

Funeral services for Mr Zurman were held on September 20.
