Do you have any nicknames? I have one, and my grandmother gave it to me. The hint is, it’s my license plate.

Family: My daughter Emma and my son Ben.

Do you have any pets? We have Lola, an almost 14-year-old Lab mix, and my daughter’s dog is Koda. She’s about 4 years old, with lots of energy.

How long have you lived in Newtown? About 22 years.

What do you do for work? I am a chiropractor, and I have had my own office for almost 33 years. I was on Queen Street for eight or nine years, and now I’m on Church Hill Road.

Are you a member of any clubs, organizations and/or communities of faith? I am a member of St Rose Church. I’ve been co-chair of Newtown Health Fair since it started over 30 years ago. I also volunteer at nOURish, a nonprofit in Bridgeport. We serve food to people who have food insecurity. I’m also a member of the American Chiropractic Association, and I’m involved in The Women in Leadership Forum. With that last group we do some charity work, we host speakers — it’s women supporting women in the greater Danbury area.

What is the most recent book you’ve read? Isabella Allende’s latest release. I typically like historical fiction. After attending the Book Buzz hosted by Booth Library last night though, and hearing about all the books that are going to be released in the fall and winter, I have a whole list of books I’m looking forward to.

Who or what has been the greatest influence in your life? My family. I grew up in a very close family. I have three siblings that are fortunately my best friends, and we have continued the traditions of good food, getting together often, and just enjoying each other’s company. We get together and we can be silly, but we respect each other even though we may have differences and we are always very close. That started with my grandparents, who passed on to my parents how important it is to stay close with your family.

If you could spend the day with one person, living or deceased, who would you choose and why? My father, who has passed away. He was fun, and made us capable to fix things. He was an engineer and he helped me repair my old cars. He built a tractor that we used to mow the lawn and plow the driveway. He dug a pond in our backyard so that we could swim in it and skate in the winter. He was a great man.

What is something you cannot live without? The beach.

Favorite color? I don’t have one. I like a lot of different colors.

Favorite food? Anything Italian. And chocolate.

What is your favorite thing about Newtown? I love the sense of community. I love that we’re becoming more diverse as we grow. I love seeing different cultures, restaurants, and activities that are interesting. You can never be bored in this town. I also love that people can have different opinions, voice those opinions, and yet in the end we can respect each other.

Do you have a personal credo? Treat everyone equally. My grandfather really taught me that. No matter who you meet, everyone has a story and it’s about the individual. I also think it’s important to live by giving more than you receive, supporting peace, and loving one another.
