To The Editor:

I am pleased to write in support of Elizabeth Young (or as many in the community know her — Beth) for Board of Finance. I have been a collaborator and friend of Beth’s for more than ten years now.

She is an incredible public servant and would make a great addition to the Board of Finance. Beth has called Newtown her home for over 30 years. She is Newtown.

She is a strong, resilient business woman, creating and running arts non-profits. For 45 years she was a nurse; during 19 of those years running a very successful medical-legal consulting business. All while volunteering her time to anyone who asked. Her heart is the community. From running a theater program at Garner prison to helping establish the Newtown Arts Festival many years ago, if there is something happening in Newtown, Beth is there.

In a time of such divide, her super power is collaboration. As someone who has been one of those collaborators, I can tell you that she goes above and beyond the call of duty. Elizabeth Young shows up. She shows up for her friends, her family and she will show up for the people of Newtown.
