15th Annual Fair Highlights
Health & Public Safety Activities
Residents had an opportunity to probe the topics of health and public safety as they affect the community on Saturday, September 20, while attending the 15th Annual Great American Health & Public Safety Fair held in the gymnasium and the grounds of Newtown Middle School on Queen Street.
The free event is sponsored by the Newtown Health District and many other local health organizations.
The four-hour event brought together about 45 exhibitors who offered information about the services that they provide and gave demonstrations of their activities.
Health screenings were offered in the areas of blood pressure, posture, functional movement, cholesterol, skin cancer, and vision, among others.
Those attending were able to see demonstrations of karate, belly dancing, skateboarding, and police dog work.
Some visitors to the fair were spotted walking the grounds with large bags of complimentary items that the exhibitors distributed to publicize their activities.
