Daniel E. Burns

US Navy Veteran

Daniel E. Burns, 77, of Shelton, died September 20. Born in Bridgeport on February 1, 1931, he was a son of Daniel P. Burns and Anne Palcak Burns, and was a longtime Huntington resident.

 Mr Burns was a retired employee of Avco Lycoming with more than 30 years of service. A US Navy veteran, Mr Burns served aboard an aircraft carrier and had a true love for aviation. He will be remembered as a hardworking man, always providing the best for his family.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 50 years, Jean Mayernik Burns; nine children, Kerry Arthur and her husband, Larry, of Sandy Hook, Scott Burns and his wife, Lisa, of Newtown, Daniel Burns and Ross Campbell of Virginia, Christine Patti and her husband, Joe, of Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y., Thomas Burns of Windsor, Susan Mason and her husband, Glen, of Virginia, Lisa Fritzki of Florida, Pamela Conrad and her husband, Peter, of Shelton, and Leslie Irwin and her husband, Dean, of Guilford; a sister, Marilyn Magee and her husband, Robert, of Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren, Sarah Terlaga, Adam Irwin, Sophia and Joseph Patti, Brynn Conrad, Ava Burns, Ian Irwin, Evan Burns, and Liza Irwin; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services took place September 23 in St Lawrence Church, Shelton, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment, with military honors, followed in Lawn Cemetery in Huntington.
