Judith A. Godfrey, 67, wife of Charles R. Godfrey of Sandy Hook, died September 19 at Danbury Hospital. She was born in Philadelphia, Penn., January 22, 1941, a daughter of George and Beatrice (Dillon) Atwater.
Mrs Godfrey grew up in Avon and was a graduate of Avon High School, Class of 1959. She was a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Nursing in 1963. During her career in nursing, Mrs Godfrey was employed at Yale-New Haven Hospital, for Dr Raymond Craven of Newtown, and at Ashlar of Newtown. She was a resident of Newtown since 1968 and had previously been active with the Sandy Hook School PTA and Newtown Jaycee Wives.
 In addition to her husband, Mrs Godfrey is survived by a son, Kenneth C. Godfrey and his wife, Jessica, of Southbury; a daughter, Christine Godfrey and her husband, Randy Engler, of Marin, Calif.; a sister, Gayle Vivring of Ansonia; and four grandchildren, Hayden, Carsen, Kayla, and Nicholas.
Interment in Hillside Cemetery in Wilton will be at the convenience of the family. A Memorial Service will be held at the United Church of Christ, Southbury, at a later date.
