Put The ‘New’ Back In Newtown

To the Editor:

It is with great pleasure that I am writing in support of Chris Lyddy’s candidacy for state representative. The Lyddy family name has long been associated with commitment to community service in our town.

In recent years I have had the wonderful opportunity to work with Chris when he selflessly volunteered to become a member on the Board of Directors of The Newtown Parent Connection. His sincere desire to serve was apparent from the beginning. He brought a wealth of expertise relating to our field, coupled with an enlightening, valuable contemporary insight into the issues we confront, bringing a fresh new perspective to our organization.

Some may question his readiness to be an effective community leader due to his lack of age. But let’s not equate age with maturity and the ability and desire to answer the call to serve in a meaningful way. It’s inspiring to me to see such attributes in a young person today. I have come to know Chris as an exceptional young man of great character, mature and knowledgeable beyond his years. His enthusiasm is infectious, his youthful exuberance energizing, and his vision for Newtown’s future encouraging. He possesses the unique qualities needed to recognize needs, understand problems, explore solutions, listen to opposing views, and ultimately work together to get things done. His optimistic approach is a rare and much needed change in the ever increasing cynical tone of today’s political climate.

I respectfully request that you consider Chris Lyddy as your candidate of choice on November 4. I’m confident that this hometown boy will work tirelessly to represent all the needs of our community at the state level, and put the “new” back into Newtown!

Sincerely,

Dolores White
