The Best Choice

To the Editor:

I am supporting Michele Mount for 112th District State Representative. I highly encourage voters in Monroe and Newtown to do the same.

I have known Michele for two years. I met her at a soccer game in Monroe, where our daughters play together. She introduced herself as a “Soccer Mom” (no lipstick). We started to talk about local politics, particularly city taxes. I could tell she totally understood our issues and is very smart.

Like me, she has lived in Monroe for 11 years. Her children attend our public schools. She has been active at our food pantry and an outreach program at a town church.

As an attorney in Hartford for the last ten years, she has the relevant experience to stand up for her constituents. Most recently, she was the director of Legislative Affairs for the City of Bridgeport — a job she willingly has left to work full time to become our state representative. That job involved being a liaison in the state capital, which benefits the taxpayers of our region. She also has been an adjunct law professor at Quinnipiac. Her father was attorney general, so she’s cut her teeth in politics and working for the common man.

I admire how she has put her career on hold in an effort to vote for issues that our current representative has voted against. The new Teenage Driving Laws — which I fully support along with Governor M. Jodi Rell and everyone I know — are an excellent example.
