CJW Seeking Partners For Community Service Projects

Connecticut Junior Women, Inc (CJW) is accepting applications from qualified nonprofit agencies to partner with it in providing service to Connecticut communities. This four-year affiliation will begin in June 2008 and end in May 2012.

CJW is a 501(c)(3) organization with a membership of approximately 1,300 women and girls from all walks of life who are members of individual clubs in almost 50 Connecticut communities. 

Since its founding in 1979, CJW has given more than $25 million in monetary and nonmonetary donations to community projects throughout the state. More than $870,000 has been given to the following state projects: Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, Lupus Foundation, Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis, UConn Children’s Cancer Program, Project Discovery, UConn Pediatric Pulmonary Program, Beardsley Zoo Educational Center, UConn Craniofacial Team, Special Wishes, Inc, Roaring Brook Nature Center, Andrew Panettieri Burn Center at Bridgeport Hospital, and its current partner, Time for Life.

Eligible organizations must meet all of the following application requirements:

*A nonprofit, 501(c)3 corporation that has been in business for at least five years;

*A human services mission;

*An annual budget less than $5 million;

*Established program(s) serving residents of Connecticut; and

*Ability to provide opportunities for direct involvement by CJW clubs (volunteering, in-kind donations etc).

CJW will consider applications from individual agencies as well as collaborative applications from agencies with similar missions (referred to as  “mission based” State Project). The support CJW provides will be both financial and in-kind. The financial support can be used for administrative or program expenses.
