Who is in your family? My wife Rita, and we have two children, a son and a daughter.

How did you and your wife meet? We met at a party a high school friend of mine was throwing. We both ended up there, and started talking.

Work: I am the president and CEO of Newtown Savings Bank. I’ve been the president since the beginning of 2018, and I’ve been with the bank coming up on 14 years.

Are you a member of any clubs, organizations and/or communities of faith? Among the groups I’m involved with, I am vice chair of United Way of Coastal and Western Connecticut, on the board of Horizons SHU, the board of Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce, and the board of Connecticut Community Bankers Association. We also belong to a synagogue near our home.

What did you want to be when you grew up? When I was younger, I wanted to be a long haul bus driver.

My career choices when I was getting out of business school were between an offer from the bank I was working at and a job offer from Major League Baseball, although not to be a player. Much to my dad’s surprise I took the banking job, but I decided I could still be a baseball fan.

Favorite MLB team? The Yankees.

What do you like to do in your free time? I like to exercise; I’m big on getting 10,000 steps a day. I also like time with family and friends, I like reading, and I like sports, and some volunteering mixed in.

What is the most recent book you’ve read? I just finished Destiny of the Republic by Candice Millard, about President Garfield. The one I’m reading now is The Guns of August, which is about the first month of World War I. I’m a history buff.

If you could spend the day with one person, living or deceased, who would you choose and why? My grandfather. There’s so much I wish I had asked him while he was alive. I don’t have that opportunity anymore and he was a big influence on me while I was growing up. I wasn’t inquisitive enough to ask about his life.

Favorite TV show? Ted Lasso. There are a lot of good ones, but I have to go with that one.

Favorite actor? Bill Murray.

What was the most recent movie you saw in the theater? Wicked.

What is your proudest accomplishment? Living the life I wanted to live. I had thoughts when I was younger about what I wanted my life to be, and I’ve been able to largely pull that off.

Favorite travel destination? We go to a town on the Jersey Shore every year. We’ve gone there every year since our oldest was a baby, and we love going there. That’s kind of our family happy place, but I’ve also loved Australia, and New Zealand, and many national parks. The most recent trip was to South Dakota in the spring and we saw Mt Rushmore and the Badlands, Crazy Horse, and Devil’s Tower, and it was fantastic. There’s so much to see and do.

What is your favorite thing about Newtown? The sense of community and the beauty. It’s hard to pick between the two. It’s a beautiful place, and I try to take a walk every day. I just feel blessed to be here.

Do you have a personal credo? Make good things happen.
