Book Signing At The Glebe House
Book Signing At The Glebe House
WOODBURY â Woodburyâs own Revolutionary War site, The Glebe House Museum, will host a book signing and authorâs talk on Sunday, October 28, at 3 pm. Washington resident Paul Lussier will discuss his historical novel Last Refuge of Scoundrels and what he discovered in the course of the research and writing of his book set in the Revolution.
Participants will be able to consider the Revolution in a setting that has changed little from the days when the war was affecting everyone directly. Admission to the event is free and copies of Mr Lussierâs book will be available for purchase.
There are two stories from the Revolutionary War. One is the story taught in school, which centers on the leaders, the philosophical underpinnings, and the heroic events and battles.
The other story is less often heard. It is the story of the common people, those who served as soldiers or who tried to make a life for themselves and their families as war was raging around them. These tended to be smaller, local affairs which individually may not have affected the course of history but which collectively add up to the success or failure of any political or social undertaking.
Writer Paul Lussier has undertaken the task of collecting some that second story, the story of the often flawed people who, working together, managed to create this vibrant, contentious, sometimes flawed by ultimately successful experiment known as the United States of America.
The Glebe House Museum is on Hollow Road in Woodbury, off Main Street South/Route 6.
