Foundation To Commission Composers
NEW CANAAN â The Renee B. Fisher Foundation invites composers age 19 and older to apply for commissions to compose short piano works for required performance in its 2003 piano competitions.
Two composers will be chosen, each of whom will receive $1,000 to write an original work for talented young pianists, one for middle school age contestants and the other for pianists of high school age. The winning composers are expected to attend the finals of the competition and the subsequent Awards Concert in Westport in the late spring of 2003, and serve as judges of the performances of their new works.
Applicants should send their musical vitae and a tape or CD of one of their representative piano compositions to Robert Dix, director, Fisher Foundation Awards Committee, 80 Laurel Road, New Canaan, CT 06840.
An SASE must be included if return of materials is desired.
Deadline for receipt of application and materials is January 7, 2002.
