The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown is pleased to announce Kita Macon of Huntington will be painting a still life in oil during its next meeting, on Wednesday, October 10, at 7:30 pm. The meeting is open to the public and will be held at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street in Newtown. Admission is free.
Ms Maconâs still life and portraits reflect her classical style, while her landscapes lean more towards impressionism. Her painting style has developed over the years of experimentation and study.
She has studied with some of Americaâs finest artists such as Daniel Greene, Lajos Markos, Everett Raymond Kinsler, and Greg Kreutz. She briefly attended Scottsdale Art School and Art Studentâs League of New York.
In April 1997, American Artist Magazine featured an article on Ms Maconâs indirect painting style in oil. Her article was featured again in the 2001 American Artist Magazine edition Color for the Oil Painter.
Kita Macon has won many top awards in art competition across the United States. She was twice the recipient of the Grumbacher Gold Medallion, and Oil Painters of America awarded her the Best in Show Award in both 1997 and 1998 in their Eastern and Southern Regional Show in Cohasset, Mass.
