The Kindness Of Our Community
The Kindness Of Our Community
To the Editor:
Iâm writing this letter to say thank you to all of the friends, family, and community members for the support they have shown my family and me over the past few weeks.
On September 11, 2001, our nation was changed forever by the unimaginable. The very freedom that our beautiful country stands for was taken advantage of and used against us. Our own people were used as live ammunition to take down the brother buildings of our economy and the hopes, dreams, and lives of those inside.
On September 11, 2001, my life was changed forever. My brother, Brad Vadas, was on the 89th floor of Tower Two as it crumbled to the ground. Brad was a kind and gentle man. He was intelligent and athletic. He was successful at everything he did and he was not afraid to work hard for his success. My brother had done and seen more in 37 years than most people will in a lifetime, yet there were so many things he still wanted to do and see.
On September 25, 2001, my family was changed forever. Two weeks to the day of my brotherâs death and four days before his funeral, my wife gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. He is so perfect and innocent. In his eyes, I can see the hopes and dreams of many and I will do all that I can to protect that always. Though the range of emotion between life and death is great, you can not learn to appreciate one without the other. Unfortunately, my son Bradley will never know first hand how special his uncle was, but Iâm sure his big sister will let him know.
It is never easy to lose someone you care about, and it is impossible to grieve without love and support. The support that my family and I have received from both friends and strangers has been more that we could have imagined. From a friendly word of condolence, to a card in the mail, or a home cooked meal brought to our door. These thoughtful gestures have not gone unnoticed, they have renewed our faith in the kindness of our community.
Thank you all.
