I am writing to encourage support of Neil Chaudhary for a position on the Newtown Police Commission.

Neil has a solid record of service to Newtown spanning more than 20 years on committees and councils, always focused on doing whatever is the right thing for the community. Notably, Dr Chaudhary served as a Police Commissioner with dignity and considerable expertise as a traffic safety specialist.

And, for more than five years, Neil brought his brand of common sense and careful analysis to service on the Legislative Council. In recent years Neil became a member of the Forward Party, looking for a platform that focuses on solutions, not party positions. The pledge Dr Chaudhary makes in seeking this Police Commission position is to approach others with respect, to be positive and issues-based, to be pragmatic and non-partisan, and to wholly commit to solving problems.

The core values and dispositions evidenced by Neil are sorely needed in today’s politics. Return Neil Chaudhary to the Police Commission as a step into a future less dominated by tribal allegiances, and more aligned with community service.

The community of Newtown is first and foremost in my thinking. I support Neil Chaudhary for police commission because he has the experience, the skills, the knowledge, and the core values which come together to benefit the community.
