Friends of the C.H. Booth Library announced its Fall Book Donation Day will be on Sunday, October 19, rain or shine from noon to 2 pm, at the Friends of CHB Blue Building, the Friends’ temporary donation site at 17 Old Farm Road in Newtown. The group has shifted its operations to this location and truncated donation hours because of HVAC work currently underway at Booth Library.

“We are pleased to respond to requests for our traditional Fall Book Donation Day on a Sunday afternoon,” says Denise Kaiser, Donation Day coordinator, noting that this year’s event will last just two hours.

“While many donors have been able to drop off items on a Wednesday or Saturday morning, we realize that for many people, the one-time Sunday option may be more convenient,” she added.

Just like previous Donation Day events held at the library, donors on October 19 can drive up to the front of the building, where volunteers will help unload vehicles and provide tax receipts. To expedite drop-off, those planning to donate are asked to pack items to be donated in bags or boxes they do not need returned.

In addition to new and gently-used books, the Friends welcomes good-condition DVDs, CDs, LPs, video games, and complete jigsaw puzzles. Books of antiquarian interest are also appreciated.

The Friends cannot accept multivolume encyclopedias, Time-Life Series and Reader’s Digest books, cassettes or VHS tapes, outdated reference books, text books, travel guides, magazines, or free publications.

Donated items enable the Friends to support Booth Library through various sale events, including the group’s 50th Annual Book Sale to be held from July 10-14, 2026. The Friends-operated Little Book Store, located within the library, is temporarily closed because of the HVAC work.
