Newtown Savings Bank is pleased to announce the appointment of David Cappiello to its Board of Directors effective September 1. With a distinguished career spanning public service, advocacy, and community relations, Cappiello brings knowledge and experience that will contribute to the continued success of Newtown Savings Bank.

Ken Weinstein, president and CEO of Newtown Savings Bank, said, “We are excited to welcome David to the Board; his years of exemplary service to our community in multiple roles give him a great perspective which, combined with his knowledge of state and local institutions, makes him a welcome addition.”

Cappiello’s career is marked by notable achievements, including a decade-long tenure in the Connecticut State Senate and four years in the State House of Representatives. He also served as vice president of Development and Communications at Ability Beyond, leading a successful campaign that exceeded its $25 million fundraising goal.

In 2016, Cappiello founded Capitol Hill Group, LLC, a lobbying firm that now represents a diverse range of clients at the State Capitol, including numerous nonprofits and municipal entities. His advocacy work has secured vital funding, such as the recent $1 million allocation for Regional Hospice’s pediatric program, underscoring his impact on Connecticut’s communities.

“I have been extremely fortunate that, virtually my entire professional career, I have been able to serve my community in one way or another,” stated Cappiello. “I am inspired by Newtown Savings Bank’s commitment to Connecticut families and businesses and appreciate the opportunity to contribute to such a dedicated team.”

Capiello holds a Bachelor of Science in Justice and Law Administration from Western Connecticut State University. His dedication to community service is further reflected in his extensive volunteer roles, including positions with United Way, Ability Beyond, and Foundations in Education.
