BOYS U10

 

The Raptors played four games in the Columbus Day weekend Columbia/Windham Tournament. The boys demonstrated the results of all their hard work in winning three out of four of their match-ups.

In the first game, the Raptors enjoyed a 1-0 win over Essex. The game’s only goal came off a midfield kick from Gene Kallivrousis to the delight of his teammates and fans in attendance. Adam Buccino and Andy Lapple put in strong performances for Newtown.

In the tournament’s second game, Newtown suffered it’s only loss in a 2-1 battle against Coventry The Raptors’ goal came off the foot of Colin Jacob. Eric Keogler, Benjamin Miles and Ben Morrison all played well for the Raptors.

Game #3 on Monday saw Newtown win a 3-0 decision against Norwich, with goals by Daniel Greenwood, Matt Iassogna and Sam Hoagland. Strong performances were demonstrated by Jeff DiNicola and Colin Jacob.

And in Game #4, Newtown put in a fine-tuned effort in a 3-2 win over East Lyme. Two goals were scored by Danny Clement with assistance from Greenwood, who also scored a goal of his own. Chris McCann and Kyle Droniak put in strong performances for the Raptors.

BOYS U14

 

The Storm traveled to Marlborough for the Columbia Windham Tournament and came away with one win and two losses.

In the first game with Hamden, the Storm won by a count of 3-0. Alex Naldini scored a pair of goals and assisted on one other while Max Barrett had a goal and an assist. Outstanding defensive efforts were turned in by Alex de Brantes, Will Brooks, Justin Carotti, Billy McCann and Matt Boland. Scott Kohn and Matt Norris played well in the midfield.

The Storm then lost a tough, 1-0 decision to Colchester. Steven Marks made several strong saves in goal while Nick Sando, Tyler Bigham, Jon Hartlett and Chris Nuelle were solid on offense. Following that, the Storm fell to Glastonbury (two-time State Cup champions) 3-0. Ross MacLeod and Eric MacKnight put forth great efforts in the midfield.
