Talented Trio Will Perform An All-English Concert At St John’s Church

NEW MILFORD — St John’s Episcopal Church on the Green will host a fall benefit concert that will be held at the church on Sunday, October 28, at 3 pm. The featured artists will be Janice Cavalier, soprano, David Cavalier, guitar, and Robert Rutt, accompanist.

All all-English program will include a wide range of music consisting of a group of classical art songs, 18th Century romantic ballads for soprano and guitar, the works of Albeniz and Tarrego for solo guitar, and conclude with a selection of songs from Broadway musicals.

Janice Cavalier’s career includes solo performances at Carnegie Hall, Truly Hall, Town Hall, and Brooklyn Academy of Music. She has also sung with the Philadelphia, Hartford, Baltimore and Washington opera companies, as well as being soprano soloist in Ontario and with orchestra.

She has performed two previous concerts for St John’s Church, both to critical acclaim. Miss Cavalier teaches voice in New York City, and has a home in Candlewood Lakes Estates in New Milford.

David Cavalier is an accomplished classical guitarist who has studied guitar privately with Yasha Kofman in New York City, and Yale Graduate School of Music. He also plays electric guitar with his rock group, Moneyshot, which performs regularly in clubs in New York City and has two CDs to its credit. He is also Miss Cavalier’s son.

Robert Rutt is a talented accompanist and musical director as well as a trained tenor. He has been musical director for several summer musical theatre companies including the Town and Country Playhouse in Salem, N.H.
