Bet On Cows And

Touch-A-Truck At Merryhill Fair

Children will have the opportunity to explore a fire truck, police car, school bus, race car, tow truck, tractor, and other vehicles at Merryhill Child Care Center’s annual Touch-A-Truck and Fall Fair October 18, from 10 am to 4 pm.

All proceeds will help the nonprofit center renovate the children’s playground area.

“The current, original playground is over ten years old and in desperate need of some upgrading,” said Director Michelle Kean. “The children of Merryhill love their outside time and we can’t wait to see their faces when the renovations are done!”

In addition to the Touch-A-Truck attraction, the fair will feature horse rides, play tattoos, picture frame crafts, clay sculptures, make-your-own Halloween magnets, a moon bounce, games, and a concession stand. The Newtown Police Department will be on hand, providing ID kits and booster seat safety information kits to interested parents.

There will also be two free wildlife shows, at 12 and 2 pm, and the second annual Cow Chip Raffle. For $5, participants can purchase one square foot of land in a 50-square-foot pasture where a cow will be left to graze. If the cow “chip” lands in your square, you win! First prize is $500, second prize $250, and third prize $100.

For more information or to purchase raffle tickets, contact Cheri Ross at 364-1660.
