Christ Church Benefit Auction & White Elephant Sale
ROXBURY â Christ Church in Roxbury will hold its 2nd Annual Benefit Auction & White Elephant Sale on Saturday, October 18, from 10 am to 3 pm. The church is at the corner of Route 67 and Wellerâs Bridge Road.
Proceeds will benefit the following organizations: Northwest Connecticut AIDS Project, Torrington; Childrenâs Light & Peace, St Paulâs/St Jamesâ, New Haven; Oratory of The Little Way, Gaylordsville; and Christ Church.
The White Elephant Sale will feature an assortment of unusual household items, pottery, vases, costume jewelry, and lamps.
In âRoad Showâ tradition, from 10 am to 1 pm appraiser Bernie McManus of Woodbury will appraise up to three items per person for a fee of $10 for the first item and $5 for each additional item. Simultaneously some fine items will be offered in a silent auction.
A luncheon of homemade soup, sandwiches, and beverages will be available.
The live auction, called by auctioneer Mitchell Borenstein of Applebrook Auctions in Brookfield, will run from 1 to 3 pm. A sampling of the unique items to be auctioned off includes a one-week stay at a âLeft Bankâ apartment in Paris, tickets to a New York Giants game, a weekendâs stay at a Gramercy Park apartment in New York City, tickets for orchestra aisle seats at the Metropolitan Opera, tickets to a Broadway show, a one-week stay in upstate New York, and a one-week stay in Puerto Vallarta overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Preview of all the auction items will begin at 10 am in Diebold Hall. Cash or checks will be accepted.
