Lillian Collins

Lillian M. Collins, 90, of Cherry Street, Sandy Hook, died October 8 in Filosa Convalescent Home, Danbury, after a long illness. She was born in Sandy Hook, July 5, 1913, daughter of the late Martin and Cecelia Collins.

Ms Collins was educated in Newtown schools and graduated from St Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing with an RN degree. For more than 25 years, she worked as a nurse at Laurel Heights Hospital in Shelton.

Following her retirement from Laurel Heights, she became a Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) nurse in Newtown, and also did private duty nursing in Danbury Hospital. She was a member of CSEA #1067 and a devoted member of St Rose Church and AARP.

She is survived by one niece and five nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 13, at 10 am, from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, and at 10:30 am at St Rose of Lima Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St Rose Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, October 12, from 3 to 6 pm.
