To the Editor:

In addition to raising my family and operating my CPA firm here in town, I am very involved in our community. I am intimately aware of the way the town is run.

Herb Rosenthal has done a remarkable job of managing Newtown’s affairs, even as the economic climate has deteriorated. Under his leadership, the town budget was reduced this year –– a decision he took even before he knew that funding we had been promised by the state would not materialize. That’s the kind of foresight that has led to Newtown’s bond rating being upgraded –– twice since Herb took office.

In percentage terms, the town budget has grown on average just two percent per year over the last five years. That means more money available for tax relief for our seniors and for the education side of the budget for our children.

We couldn’t ask for a more honest, determined, and effective first selectman than Herb Rosenthal. That is why I volunteered once again to be Herb’s campaign treasurer, and to strongly support his election. I urge you to cast your vote for Herb on November 4.
