To The Editor:

Local elections are key to the governance that is important to all of us. The elections are now less than a month away. I believe that when it comes to the Chief Executive and his running mate, Jeff Capeci and Charlie Gardner are the best choice for our Board of Selectmen. Jeff has served this community for over two decades, most recently for the past two years as our First Selectman. Their experience is extensive and their dedication to Newtown is unquestioned. They possess smart and level-headed leadership which is what the town needs right now.

Jeff, has kept a tight rein on the town budget in spite of cost pressures, while working to advance important initiatives like the rehabilitation of Fairfield Hills and the enhancement of our commercial tax base. Charlie, who worked ably with Jeff on the Legislative Council, brings a record of service to the town as well as fresh ideas on land use and traffic safety aimed at improving affordability and quality of life. As a team, they’ll put Newtown and its residents first.

Together, Jeff and Charlie are what Newtown needs to keep moving forward. I hope you’ll join me in voting for them this year.
