To The Editor:

My name is Donna Rahtelli and I am proud to be running for the Legislative Council, District 2.

For the past 35 years, my husband Joe and I have called Newtown our home. We’ve raised our three children here, built deep roots in the community, and experienced firsthand what makes Newtown such a special place to live. From the moment I settled in Newtown, I felt called to get involved. I have had the privilege of serving in various leadership roles, including as president of the Newtown Newcomers and Neighbors Club, serving in multiple capacities within the Home and School Association, girl scout leader, founding and serving as the first president of the St Rose Columbiettes, and acting as a Library Board Trustee for eight years as secretary and Chair of Development.

I now wish to expand my involvement by engaging in our local government, where I can use my people skills to give a stronger voice to the community we all love and advocate for the needs of my neighbors.

With 23 years in education, I am very aware how strong schools and safe neighborhoods shape thriving communities. I am dedicated to protecting what makes it special.

Keeping Newtown affordable for all generations — young, older, and everyone in between — is at the heart of my commitment to our community.

I believe in honesty, transparency, and respectful discussion. These values are essential to building trust and working TOGETHER as a community. I respectfully ask for your support — and in return, I will work hard to protect the unique spirit and quality of life that define our Newtown.
