To The Editor:

It is my privilege to support and endorse Jim Gaston for re-election to the Board of Finance.

Jim is a candidate who has worked tirelessly for the residents of Newtown for twenty years, sixteen as the Chair or Vice-Chair of the Board of Finance and four years on the Board of Selectmen. He is by far the most experienced leader running for election this year. We have called Newtown our home for twenty-six years.

Currently we face the most significant financial pressures with declining State funding and equally significant internal pressures with escalating self-insured health insurance costs due to several persons with catastrophic healthcare costs. It has always been reassuring to attend the meetings and hear Jim’s input and solid work experience in action for all of the Newtown residents. His educational background, i.e. double major Finance and Economics as well as a minor in Government from Lehigh University, makes him the best person for the job. He has run a successful law business for thirty plus years.

All the Boards in Newtown are important. I sincerely support Jim to do the heavy financial lifting for all of us on our Board of Finance.

Please be sure to cast your vote on November 4.
