To The Editor:

I’m Paul Lundquist and I’m running for Board of Selectmen. This letter reflects my enthusiasm for several outstanding candidates who deserve your support.

Bruce Walczak, First Selectman: Bruce’s deep roots in Newtown and long experience on town commissions give him a clear understanding of our community’s needs. He has a proven record of managing complex organizations, making him well-prepared to guide our town through ongoing challenges. For the 18 years I’ve known him, Bruce has worked on issues that truly matter to residents, and represents our best choice to keep Newtown affordable, welcoming, and thriving.

Renee Weimann, Town Clerk: As Legislative Council Chairman, I worked with Renee near-weekly, and I cannot overstate the important role she’s played as Assistant Town Clerk. Without fail, she’s been ever-present and dependable, always with professionalism and care. She’s one of our town’s unsung heroes, working behind the scenes to keep things moving. Now she’s running for Town Clerk. This is a great opportunity for us, and we should not let it pass!

Chris Eide, Chris Gardner, and Laura Miller, Legislative Council District 1: That’s my district, and I know what a strong team they make. Chris Eide brings six years on the Legislative Council, with a focus on capital planning and town ordinances. Chris Gardner brings four years on the Council plus service on the Board of Finance. Laura Miller also brings experience from both, and has helped residents understand the upcoming changes to recycling. All three are sharp, thoughtful, and committed to the people of our town and the education of our children.

I’m proud to run alongside Bruce, as well as all our Democratic Row A candidates. Together, we can help Newtown meet its challenges while preserving the spirit that makes our town a special place to call home.

Paul Lundquist
