Vote Row B For Common Sense

To The Editor:

The Republican Town Committee has assembled a great slate of both Republican and unaffiliated candidates for the upcoming municipal election. They comprise a united team who cares deeply about our community and is dedicated to making Newtown a safe, prosperous community where families and seniors can afford to live and students can thrive and excel.

By contrast, in the latest budget cycle the Democrat-led Legislative Council ADDED expenses to the First Selectman’s budget, leading to one of the largest tax increases in recent Newtown history. Rather than caring about the needs of Newtown residents, Newtown’s Democratic party seems to be more focused on bringing divisive national politics to our doorsteps … even literally as they rally on Main Street along with Newtown’s usual left-wing activist groups and hordes of people from out of town, each rally with a common thread of hatred for Trump.

To restore common sense in Newtown, it starts with re-electing Jeff Capeci as First Selectman and electing his Selectman running mate Charlie Gardner, so they can continue the good work Jeff has done to grow Newtown’s economy while protecting taxpayers. For example, through Jeff’s innovative efforts as First Selectman, he achieved historic designation of the Fairfield Hills campus which unlocks federal tax credits, and secured a Small Town Economic Assistance Program Grant for Fairfield Hills. Developers are now incentivized to turn these deteriorating buildings into attractive, tax-paying properties following the Fairfield Hills master plan and the wishes of the voters.

In order to have Newtown’s government work for Newtown residents, rather than left-wing special interests, we also need to restore Republican majorities to our other boards and councils. Learn about all the Republican candidates at newtownrepublicans.org.

There is a party difference. For Newtown to thrive, Republicans need your vote. Vote Row B on the ballot.
