Occupation: I am the president and CEO of JP Maguire Associates, Inc. We do catastrophe cleaning and property restoration. Our main office is here in Newtown, and we have three other branches in Middletown, Norwalk, and Branford. I started JP Maguire Associates 20 years ago. Today it is the largest restoration company in Connecticut. I attended Norwalk Technical College, and was employed as an electrical contractor prior to starting my company.
How Long in Newtown: Kathy and I moved here from Stratford 24 years ago.
Biggest Change Seen in Town: I read this article every week and as most other people have said, traffic.
Family: My wife, Kathy, and I have been married for 28 years, and we have two sons, Jamie, 26, and Mike, 25.
Pets: We have a Golden Retriever puppy, Jake, who is four months old.
Hobbies: I go to Newtown Health and Fitness most days and exercise there. I also run. I love to be on the water. I enjoy kayaking, fishing, and sailing.
Favorite Books and Authors: Probably my biggest enjoyment is reading. My favorite book is Illusions by Richard Bach. Best fiction is Joshuaâs Hammer by David Hagberg. Itâs about terrorism, so appropriate for these times.
Favorite TV Show: I do not watch TV.
Organizations: I am a member of the Newtown Chamber of Commerce and the National Institute of Restoration.
Most Vivid Memory of Newtown: When my brother and I first started building in Newtown in 1975, we paid $5,000 for our first building lot.
Favorite Vacation Spot: Rhode Island. Kathy and I have a house on the ocean at Matunuck Beach in South Kingstown, R.I. We are there most weekends year round.
Personal Philosophy: To live my life one day at a time.
