Panel To Speak On Herbs And Nutritional Self-Care

DANBURY –– The Institute for Holistic Health Studies (IHHS) at Western Connecticut State University will host an evening presentation featuring three highly distinguished professionals in the field of herbology and nutrition.  The panel discussion entitled, “Herbs and Nutritional Self-Care” will take place on Monday, October 29, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.

The program will take place at Warner Hall on the Midtown campus, 181 White Street. General admission is $15; seniors will be admitted for $10, and students, $5.

According to IHHS Director Dr Jeanette Tedesco, “Herbs have the power to heal the body and soothe the soul.  In this very special evening presentation, participants will have the rare opportunity to have their questions and concerns addressed by three highly distinguished professionals in the field of nutrition and herbology.”

The three panelists include Judith Dreyer, a nutritional consultant, herbalist and founder of Nutrition and Holistic Health Services; E. Barrie Kavasch, an ethnobotanist, master herbalist, and author of more than 18 popular booking including American Indian Healing Arts, and Barry Sherr, a certified nutritionist and owner of Chamomile, a natural products store in Danbury.

The IHHS at WestConn is a pioneer in this emerging field, offering programs to Western Connecticut. The goal of IHHS is to provide a venue for students, faculty and the community-at-large to expand their understanding of, and experiences with, holistic philosophies in order to improve the quality of life and health within the community.

This fall, the IHHS line-up includes programs that will focus on holistic approaches that can be used to achieve harmony and balance by incorporating easy and affordable mind-body-spirit modalities in everyday living.

A portion of the proceeds from all IHHS events goes to a student scholarship fund to help educate future healthcare practitioners and educators. Danbury Hospital, Waterbury Hospital, Webster Bank, and Danbury Orthopedic Associates, PC, are among the sponsors of the IHHS 2001-02 programs.
