Trinity Organ Recital On Sunday

Trinity Church on Main Street at the flagpole will continue the 20th anniversary celebration of its 47-rank Austin organ with a year-long series of four recitals, called Sundays at Noon, beginning this Sunday, October 21, at noon.

The series is intended to show the musical capabilities of the many-faceted Trinity organ.

The first recital, called “Fanfares and Trumpets,” will highlight the brilliant reed stops on the organ. The recital will be played by Maria Coffin. For this recital, and the ones to follow, Ms Coffin has chosen music not often heard in church services and therefore inaccessible to the general public. This Sunday’s program will feature works by John Cook, Henry Purcell, Jeremiah Clarke, Samuel Scheidt, William Rowan, and Jacques Lemmens.

Maria Coffin has been the minister of music at Trinity Church since 1996 and is well known for her scintillating performances of the masterworks of organ literature.

The concert will last between 30 and 40 minutes and is free and open to the public. For more information call 426-9070.
