Zindelâs Award-Winning Drama At The Little Theatre
The Town Players of Newtown will present Paul Zindelâs Pulitzer Prize-winning play The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds, a disturbing, yet hopeful drama, weekends from November 2 to November 24.
The production, being directed by Suzanne Kinnear of Bethel, features Lori Peck of Newtown as Beatrice, Caroline Winschel of Monroe as Tillie, Beth English of Newtown as Ruth, Sarah McSweeney of Newtown as Janice Vickery, and Ruth Schofield of Sandy Hook as Nanny.
The play centers on a single mother, trying to support herself and her two daughters by taking in a series of decrepit old boarders. One daughter is a pretty, high-strung girl, who is subject to convulsions while the other daughter is plain and pathologically shy but has an intuitive gift for science.
The playwright was also the recipient of an Obie Award for this play.
Performances will be Friday and Saturday evenings at 8, and Sunday, November 18, at 2 pm. All seats are $10.
The Little Theatre, the home of Town Players of Newtown, is on Orchard Hill Road in Newtown (off Route 25).
