At Next SCAN Meeting
The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown will have a pastel landscape demonstration by Joann Ballinger of Bozrah during its next meeting on Wednesday, October 24, at 1:30 pm. The meeting will be at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street in Newtown (at the flagpole), and is open to the public.
Ms Ballinger is a leading pastel artist in the Connecticut Impressionist movement centered around Old Lyme and Norwich. She is known for her gentle pastel renditions of children, seascapes and animals. Ms Ballinger has a gift for capturing moments and moods in time and space that will never occur again.
She is a member of and has won awards at the Pastel Society of America in New York City. She was featured in Connecticut magazine in August 1999, and was a finalist in a recent issue of Pastel Journal.
Ms Ballinger teaches at Lyme Art Association in Old Lyme and The Art Cellar in Clinton. She is represented by Eisenhauer Gallery on Block Island and Marthaâs Vineyard, The Lilly Pad Gallery in Charleston and Watchill, R.I., and Maritime Gallery of Mystic.
