Earnest Jay Veach, Sr

Earnest Jay Veach, Sr,  67, of Bethel, died on October 14 at his home. He was the husband of Beatrice F. (Langyel) Veach.

He is survived by a brother, Robert Veach, of Newtown.

Mr Veach was born March 10, 1934, in Norwalk, a son of the late George and Harriet (Ready) Veach. He grew up in the Norwalk and Brewster, N.Y., areas, and had been a resident of Bethel for the past 39 years.

Mr Veach was employed by the Thomas Refuse Company of Danbury for more than 20 years, retiring five years ago.

In addition to his wife of 45 years, he is survived by four sons, George Veach, Earnest Veach, Jr, Harry Veach and his wife, Mary, all of Danbury, and Mark Veach and his wife, Heather, of New Milford; five daughters, Helen Veach and Beatrice Walser and her husband, Eric, all of Bethel, Marion Veach and Suzanne Shaw and her husband, Thomas, all of New Milford, and Penny Veach of Bennington, Vt.; another brother, Ralph Veach of Danbury; five sisters, Isabel Conklin of Danbury, Suzanne Sayers and Helen Mills, both of Bethel, Harriett Hickhock of Southbury, and Mary Tomkinson of New York; 18 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr Veach was predeceased by his daughter, Sandra Veach.

Memorials may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.

Funeral services were held on October 18 at the Hull Funeral Home, 60 Division Street, Danbury, with the Rev Robert Whitfield, pastor of the Bethel United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial was in the Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.
