What personal qualities do you have that you believe will benefit the Legislative Council? â Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills in business, civic and military fields. A longtime commitment to the organized growth of Newtown while maintaining its character.
What will be the councilâs biggest challenge in the next two years? â Management of Fairfield Hills and its development. Maintaining a reasonable tax increase.
Do you favor economic development at Fairfield Hills, or should the campus be used solely for municipal purposes? â In order for the town to afford and finance the development of Fairfield Hills, there will have to be a limited amount of economic development. Open space along with the townâs recreational and municipal requirements will have to be the first priority.
The proposed changes to the charter may fail on November 6 because of confusion and concern over the need to implement the changes in just 30 days because of a clerical error. Would you be willing to reappoint a charter revision commission next year to bring these changes before the public again a year from now so that they may be considered solely on their merits? â Yes.
