Gaston Is Board Of Finance Leadership
To The Editor:
I have known Jim Gaston, personally and professionally, for more than 30 years. I write in support of Jim for re-election to the Board of Finance. Jim is a candidate who served 16 years as Chair or Vice-Chair of the Board of Finance and four years on the Board of Selectmen. He is one of the most experienced leaders running for election this year. The town and school district have serious fiscal challenges. So do Newtown taxpayers and voters. We need our best and Jim Gaston is one of the best. Why? It’s simple. First, his experience. Second, his background — double major in Finance and Economics and minor in Government from Lehigh University. Third, he’s run a successful law business for 30+ years and makes sometimes difficult payroll and business decisions. Voters wisely and overwhelmingly voted by referendum to keep the Board of Finance. In my opinion, it is one of the most important Boards. It thoughtfully researches, monitors and directs our taxpayer money.
A vote for Jim Gaston is a vote for our Town’s financial security.
Please Vote November 4!
