Live Birds At Audubon Meeting

SOUTH BRITAIN — Live birds will be featured at Lillinoah Audubon Society’s monthly meeting on Thursday, October 25. To be held in the Parish House of South Britain Congregational Church, at the corner of East Flat Hill Road and Route 172, the meeting will begin with refreshments at 7:30 pm followed by the program at 8.

The large birds to be presented will most likely be a broad-winged hawk, a mute swan (with a prosthesis for an upper beak), a barred owl and an Eurasian owl (one of the world’s largest owls).

Hope Douglas of Wind Over Wings, a wildlife rehabilitation center, will introduce the birds. Wind Over Wings is a nonprofit organization dedicated to returning wildlife to nature and to the education of wildlife protection. She will bring her birds right to the audience so that they may be seen up close and personal, and the mute swan will actually interact with the audience. The program will appeal to young and old alike, so all are welcome.
